Networking is the foundation of any business’s infrastructure and links everything together to make it work. This includes the cabling itself to the routers, firewalls, network switches, WIFI access points and VLANs.
Almost every organisation will have a different network layout depending upon their building topography, number of devices, security requirements, budget etc. We can help you design, install and maintain networks using CAT5E/6, fibre and WIFI technologies.
Typically CAT5e/6 cabling is used in most networks to connect network sockets around your office back to a central point to a patch panel where the socket are patched to a network switch to link all of your devices such as servers, workstations, printers, WIFI access points together. CAT5e should provide up to 1Gbps and CAT6 10Gbps transfer rates and the maximum theoretical cable length is 100m for reliability however we have seen lengths of 150m work.
Where the distance between two network points exceeds the 100m limit there are other options available using a CAT5e/6 repeater to join 100m lengths of cable or there is fibre optic cabling which although more fragile, can easily reach km in length and is not susceptible to external factors such as electromagnetic interference (EMI) and should have a much greater lifespan.
Where no direct cable link is possible either because the two network points are not in the same building or it is not cost-effective to install fibre optic cabling we can install a transparent WIFI network bridge that provides transfer speeds of 650Mbps for to distances up to 10km depending upon line of sight.
To link your network devices together you would install one or more network switches which can be basic un-managed switches or more advanced Cisco switches with VLANs setup to help separate the different types of traffic on your network for security and performance reasons.
As more and more devices become WIFI enabled rather than hard-wired it is essential that your WIFI solution has enough coverage, capacity and security measures to cater for your needs. We can carry out a WIFI survey and make recommendations to optimise your setup using a managed WIFI solution using Cisco Meraki or Ubiquiti Unifi equipment.
We can set up WIFI networks with multiple SSID’s, hidden SSID’s, guest WIFI for the hospitality industry or even token and fee-based with marketing integrations to help you make the most of your WIFI solution.
